Detritus
What Is Detritus?
Detritus is an interactive narrative game in which the plot and the mechanics are closely connected. You investigate the belongings of a sunken cargo ship, find the pieces of broken memories, and reassemble the destiny of the lost crew. Text-based exploration, interactive with items, and light puzzle solving are the means of progression as opposed to traditional action-based progress.
You will go through the ship, locate debris, use terminals, breakthrough biometric locks, and gradually head towards a single goal, which is restoring the engines to work. The game always presents you with the question of whether to be more curious or stay alive.
How to Play Detritus
This is not a game about speed. It’s about attention. Players can have optional hints and a complete walkthrough without being out of immersion. An average playthrough can be considered to last about two hours, but inquisitive players might stay longer.

Difficulty Levels for Every Play Style
Detritus is designed to be accessible without losing depth. There are four difficulty modes, each offering a different experience:
- Story Mode - Focused on narrative, with generous hints and minimal survival pressure
- Easy - Reduced survival mechanics, mainly tracking oxygen
- Normal - The intended balance of story and survival, managing oxygen, food, and water
- Survival - Resources are scarce, and every mistake is costly
No matter the mode, the core mystery remains intact. The difference lies in how harsh space decides to be.
Detritus is a game that demonstrates that a text-based game does not necessarily feel musty, outdated, or less engaging. It is a silent yet strong science fiction adventure worth waiting, exploring, and strategizing. This is a journey worth making, in case you like narrative-based games, space mysteries, or survival games that do not undermine your intelligence.
